XYC TP 18-810 N 1KG Water Based Coating for Automotive Flocked Seals
XYC TP 18-810 N Automotive Seal Coating
XYC TP 18-810 N is a single-component, water-based bonded coating developed for flocked seals and automotive sealing applications. It is designed to reduce friction-related noise and help protect seals against freezing. This automotive seal coating is suitable for selected flocked profile seals, EPDM profiles and the assembly of rubber and TPE components.
The coating is air-drying and forms a functional film after application. With a specified service temperature range of -40°C to +100°C, it can be considered for compatible automotive sealing systems exposed to changing temperatures.
Noise Reduction for Flocked Seals
Friction between seals and adjacent surfaces can cause unwanted noise during vehicle operation. XYC TP 18-810 N is designed to help reduce this noise and improve the functional performance of compatible sealing components.
As an automotive seal coating, it is intended for flocked profile seals and EPDM profiles where friction noise reduction is important. Actual results depend on the seal design, substrate, surface condition, coating thickness and assembly environment.
Protection Against Seal Freezing
Automotive seals may be exposed to low temperatures and freezing conditions. XYC TP 18-810 N is designed to help protect seals against freezing and support their intended function in cold environments.
The coating has a stated service temperature range of -40°C to +100°C. Application suitability should be confirmed under the actual vehicle conditions and with the relevant seal materials.
UV Indicator for Application Inspection
An important feature of XYC TP 18-810 N is its integrated UV indicator, which can be inspected under ultraviolet light at a wavelength of 366 nm. This UV indicator coating helps manufacturers check the presence and coverage of the applied film during production and assembly.
UV inspection conditions should be validated on the actual production line to ensure that coated areas can be identified reliably.
Water Based Bonded Coating and Application
XYC TP 18-810 N is a water based bonded coating designed for spray application. The product should be stirred thoroughly before use until solid matter is evenly distributed and no deposits or lumps remain. Filtering through a 150–200 µm filter before spraying is recommended.
The product information specifies a spray nozzle diameter of approximately 0.8 mm and a feed pressure of 2–4 bar. Compressed air should be free from oil and water. Applying the coating to a warm substrate above 60°C is recommended.
The recommended film thickness for tribological applications is approximately 10–20 µm, depending on the specific requirements. Under the specified conditions, the coating becomes dry to the touch after approximately 15 minutes at 25°C or 1 minute at 60°C, and fully hardens after approximately 24 hours at room temperature.
Technical Specifications
XYC TP 18-810 N has a black appearance and a density of approximately 1.07 g/cm³ at 20°C. Its runout time is approximately 57 seconds when measured with a flow cup using a 3 mm nozzle. The non-volatile content is approximately 23% by weight.
The estimated coverage is approximately 17.1 m²/L at a 10 µm tribological film thickness on smooth surfaces. The stated shelf life is approximately 12 months from manufacture when stored in the unopened original container in a dry, frost-free place.
Typical Applications
XYC TP 18-810 N can be considered for automotive flocked profile seals, EPDM weatherstrips, rubber components and TPE assemblies.
Thisautomotive seal coating is designed to reduce friction-related noise and help protect seals against freezing. Its water based bonded coating formulation supports spray application, while the integrated UV indicator coating helps with coating coverage inspection during production.
